Activities / Resume

Richard Redon is a human geneticist recognized as an international expert in the analysis of structural variation in the human genome.

After his PhD on cancer cytogenetics (2002, University of Strasbourg, FR) during which he received the Young investigator Award 2002 from the European Society of Human Genetics, he joined the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute where he contributed, as a junior postdoctoral fellow, to the development of approaches based on microarray analysis to address the role of copy number variation in evolution and disease.

He joined l'institut du thorax in 2009 to set up his own team on the genetics of cardiac arrhythmia disorders, with the support of the ATIP-Avenir program. Since then, he has been leading international genome-wide association studies aiming to identify genetic risk factors for sudden cardiac death. Since 2013, he has also been coordinating the VaCaRMe program with Hervé Le Marec, whom he succeeded as Director of the research unit of l'institut du thorax in January 2017
